Madden Systems

Madden Systems works for many companies of all sizes and all degrees of commitment to safety. At the end of the day, we know that we are responsible for our own safety, the safety of those we work with, and work for. We have not had a major accident or injury in over 23 years of operations. It is a record we are thankful for and make never ending efforts to maintain. We know it can all change in a second.

Our employees receive all the safety training that is required by law. In addition, we get additional training in other areas whenever possible. We do not handle explosives or radioactive materials. But, there are many times we share locations with those that do. Knowledge of the hazards, will give you tools to avoid the risks. We rely on our sister companies for support in those areas as well as our customer base for other safety topics. We recognize no boundaries for sharing the knowledge that will promote safety. Regardless of company affiliation, we all win or we all lose. It's one of the few things in this life that is black or white. There is no grey.

While, any successful safety program is a multi-faceted approach to a common goal, we place much of our success on pre-job, tailgate safety meetings and Job Safety Analysis. JSA's bring a superb interaction of all those about to work together at a specific task. No two jobs are the same and thus no one safety tool is proper for every application. We've heard all our lives to use the right tool for the job. Well, safety is no different. The following is a general guideline that we use on every job:

Tailgate Safety Meeting
Stop all activity on location and gather everyone present, not just those associated with the task at hand. Introduce all participants and establish the chain of command on location. State the goals and purpose of the work.
Preliminry Procedure
Discuss the preliminary procedure to be followed. Have each entity outline their actions in the job. Each party should also identify general hazards and those hazards specific to their work, expertise, and experience.
JSA
Fill out a job safety analysis form with the hazards and preventative steps needed to reduce risk during the job. Have all parties verify and approve the JSA.
Final Procedure
Review the final procedure with all participants.
STOP
The person in charge of the job must state that everyone has the authority and obligation to stop any unsafe acts. A short discussion about possible events or conditions that would require the work to stop should follow.
Emergency Actions
  • Designate an emergency meeting area off location.
  • Define means of emergency egress for injured personnel should an accident occur.
  • Clarify communication techniques.
